Persona 5 Royal comes to Steam, Xbox consoles, PS5 and the Switch on October 21

 

…Yours truly WILL be getting the Steam version. If it’s over $30 at launch, I’ll wait until it’s on sale since I already own a copy of the game on another platform as well as a physical copy of the base version.

I have the base version of Persona 5 on the PS4 and then later got a digital copy of Persona 5 Royal, also on the PS4. P5R includes all the DLC content from the base game, an additional playable character, two additional social links, new areas and updates to some of the existing story’s content. If you never played either version of P5, it’s worth playing!

I’m pretty sure both of my computers meet the minimum requirements but I’m sure my laptop will run it better. No rush getting it though. I have it on PS4 already after all. I’ll probably wait until it’s on sale like I said before.

Good thing I made that decision in advance: The game has now been released and is selling for the full $60. I’ll patiently wait until the game is on sale to buy it on Steam. I already own the PS4 version so there is no rush on my part. If you never played P5 before or don’t mind paying full price, feel free to buy it at regular price. Otherwise, wait for it to go on sale. P5R was released three years ago but given it IS a remake bieng ported to more platforms, selling it for $60 was just not a smart idea. Atlus would’ve gotten more people to bite if they dropped the price to $40 or $30 which is likely the range it will be when it’s on sale in the next month or two. When the sale price is $25 or less, then I’ll buy it.

 

 

P4G hits the noted consoles in June 2023. It was released on Steam in June 2020 and yes, I have it. It was a day 1 purchase ($20). It was originally released on the Vita and is an enhanced version of the original PS2 Persona 4 game. Persona 3 Portable was originally released on the PSP. Unlike the other two games, it was never re-released outside the PSP. That will change next year when it will be released on all curent-gen platforms and Steam. I still have a digital copy of the PSP version on my PSP Go but like P4G, I am looking forward to playing it on a larger screen AND with a controller.

 

On a related note. Much is being made about the fact we’ve heard nothing of the first three Persona games–Persona 2 was actually split into two games as a reminder–getting ported to current platforms. P3P, P4G and P5R make the most sense to do now due to their massive popularity globally. Like those three games, I’m sure Atlus will eventually release them if fans keep asking. That’s how we got P4G on Steam and the SMT III remake after all!

 

 

Breaking news!

We will not have to wait too long for modern consoles to get P4G and P3P. Atlus just announced they will be coming on January 19, 2023. P4G will be released on all modern consoles (PS4, PS5 Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Switch) while P3P will be released on all modern consoles and Steam.

I plan to get P3P on Steam and PS4. I will also get the PS4 version of P4G. Like P5R, I’ll get the Steam versions when they’re on sale if they’re over $30. P4G sells for $20 on Steam so I’m not expecting P3P to sell for more than $25 max. We’ll see.
